Akshay Kumar seems to be giving Salman Khan a run for his money as far as being a good Samaritan is concerned. Recently he charmed audiences of the popular reality TV show ‘Dance India Dance’ where he promoted his film ‘Rowdy Rathore’. He appeared on the show in his ‘Rowdy... garish get-up but that’s not where the story ended.
On the show, he chatted with the finalists, all aged between 22 and 25, who eagerly shared their dreams and tales of struggle. Most of them were from poor economic backgrounds and Akshay was moved beyond words hearing their stories.
He didn’t want their talent to go to waste and decided to help them out. On the spur of the moment, he gave a cheque of Rs 1 lakh each to the five participants! He also asked them to not reveal this to anyone as it had nothing to do with the show. Needless to say, the contestants were floored!
The makers of ‘Dance India Dance’ heard about Akki’s generosity only after he left the set.
Some time back, Akshay donated Rs 2 crore to the Ice Hockey Association of India. He also contributed Rs 10 lakh for an educational initiative called Support My School. And he donated Rs 50 lakh to Salman’s Being Human Foundation!
