Imran Khan, Ali Zafar and Katrina Kaif rocked Abu Dhabi, in every sense of the term, yesterday (September 7) when they arrived for the world premiere of their film 'Mere Brother Ki Dulhan' (MBKD). The crowds went berserk and a million flashbulbs popped as they took centrestage, first at the press conference at the Hilton and later for the red carpet premiere at Vox Cinema, Marina Mall. And whether the movie works at the box office or not, one thing is certain – Imran, Kat and Ali left a lot of their fans totally starry-eyed. They were charm personified as they mingled with guests, including Masala! Meet and Greet Contest Winners Ekta Bhojwani and Ayesha Khan. Masala.com caught up with the stars for a quick tete-a-tete before they got caught up in the ‘fan-storm’.
You seem to be having a lot of fun on screen. Scuba diving in Spain, kissing Hrithik Roshan and playing a rockstar…
Well, it’s the requirement of the role. But yes, these roles have been different and it’s a lot of fun. Scuba diving was an exhilarating experience!
'MKBD' seems like a mad comedy. Did you, in any way, find it similar to 'Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani', another out-and-out comedy you did?
Not at all. I look at each performance as very different from the other. In 'Ajab Prem Ki'… I played a damsel in distress. Here I am the damsel who causes all the distress!
Between Imran, Ali and you, who was the maddest?
I’d say Ali. He has got a unique sense of humour!
'Delhi Belly' was an adult comedy. This is a family comedy. How do you select your scripts?
I just go by the humour. If a script entertains me, I pick it up. Beyond that, one can’t really do much!
You’ve said this is your most ‘filmy’ movie. What were the things you did that you have never done before?
Well, in 'Mere Brother Ki Dulhan', I play the part of ‘Mere’! Dancing - which is always difficult for me, the situations, the dialogues… it was nothing I had done before. Thankfully the director, Ali Abbas Zafar, was there to guide me through it!
It’s your second film in Bollywood and first with Yash Raj. How do you feel about it?
Nervous! I truly enjoyed being part of the making of this film. Of course, I am selling this film to all of you! That’s what I have been paid to do!
Will we see Katrina dancing in your music video?
Please can you ask Katrina this question! I have been asking her for a long time!
