Gaurav Gupta @Delhi Couture Week 2011
Enchanted forests inspired a collection that was dreamy couture all the way
Gaurav Gupta's collection at Delhi Couture Week was inspired by an enchanted forest and it showed in the dreamy designs which had lots of pleats, drapes and ruffles.
The silhouettes were a mix of sari inspired gowns and ghagras in hues of creme, pink, gold, copper, yellow, green and turquoise. The fabrics were mostly net, chiffons, georgettes and tulles.
"The collection was inspired by an enchanted forest and I tried to create a fantasy world with surrealism depicting lots of femininity and elegance. I have presented a classic collection in a modern look," said Gaurav.
Bollywood was represented in style at the show with Jacqueline Fernandez, looking stunning in a Gaurav Gupta grey net sari with a one-shoulder blouse.
Jacky was in the front row for the designer's show and said that it was where Bollywood celebrities should be, rather than walking the ramp.
"We chose not to walk for the designer because we feel that fashion show is all about clothes and the designer's creativity and it's better to let the garments do the talking rather than Bollywood celebrities stealing the limelight as they walk the ramp," the Sri Lankan beauty said.
Shakti Kapoor's daughter Shradha was also at the show.
