Pratibimb's latest production delivers a social message but with humour

A family of zamindars struggles to maintain their opulent lifestyle in post colonial independent India. Unwilling to work hard for a living or to let go of their lavish ways, they are forced to sell their land and house. The situation may sound grim, but noted Bengali playwright Badal Sarkar turned it into a rib-tickling comedy play, that delivers a profound social message but with wit and humour.
Amateur UAE theatre group Pratibimb will present this play in Hindi, titled Ballabpur Ki Roop Katha at Al Qasba, Sharjah, on May 9.
Since its launch in 1999, Pratibimb has staged over 30 performances of 15 plays in English and various Indian languages.
The show starts at 8pm. Tickets, priced at Dhs 30, are available at the Al Qasba box office and at Pak Sarhad.
