Tashan

Tashan is the directorial debut of Vijay Krishna Acharya, the scriptwriter of the blockbuster Dhoom and Dhoom: 2, and is produced by Yash Raj Films.

What happens when 3 oddballs set out on a journey across India? It is the story of an irreverent call centre executive Jimmy Cliff (Saif Ali Khan), a desi wannabe gangster Bachchan Pande (Akshay Kumar) and a beautiful femme fatale Pooja (Kareena Kapoor). Jimmy and Bachchan don't get along, and Pooja can't be trusted.

And then there's the murderous gangster Bhaiyyaji (Anil Kapoor), who loves nothing more than to kill people and practise his English.

The film's promos have been showcasing a sizzling, size zero Kareena and an equally stylised Saif, dancing in exotic locales. The movie is likely to benefit from this hot combo, Bollywood's couple of the moment who fell in love while filming this movie. And then, there's the much talked about number with Kareena in a bikini!

While the cine-goers will be scrutinising them, the quirky characters of Akshay and Anil might just steal their thunder! Powerful actors, both are on a winning run, and Anil, in his Ramgarh ka Rambo avatar, seems to have the punchlines.

Riding on loads of attitude, Vishal-Shekar's music is already a rage. What choreographer Vaibhavi Merchant does with them on screen will matter.

Akki Narula's costumes look stylish but loud, in keeping with the mood of the movie. The action sequences, directed by a Hollywood action director, are said to be worth looking out for.

Tashan is touted to have 'the ishtyle, the goodluck, the pharmoola'. When it releases on April 25 (April 24 in the UAE), goodluck will matter the most.
