Anurag Kashyap is keen on making his adaptation of Devdas as modern as it can get. Produced by UTV Spotboy and titled Dev. D, the background score and a few tracks of the film have a strong Asian Underground influence.
The experimental filmmaker has roped in a British-Asian band - Twilight Players - who have just recorded a song and subsequently filmed a video for the film in Delhi recently.
The band comprises three Punjabi boys - Sinbad, Ammo and Jimi - who are equally popular for their street-style dancing. As far as their repertoire is concerned, they usually blend Asian Underground with Hindi lyrics and Latino sounds.
"I met the Twilight Players and I was bowled over by their new, cutting edge, free style of dancing, which fits in well with my film. They are a very cool bunch of guys and their attitude is so refreshing. We just finished shooting a song with them in Delhi and our entire cast and crew just gathered on the sets to watch them perform," says Anurag.
