She shocked fans with her grown up appearance in Twilight and now the child star is embarking on a career as an actress. Dakota turned 16 today and celebrated in a very mature manner.

The War of the Worlds star celebrated her birthday over the weekend at a dinner with a group of 40 friends and family. The bash was in Beverley Hills at Villa Blanca where she partied until 11pm.

A source told E! Online that "she looked like she was having fun and was really cool. She was talking to her friends and laughing all night."
