Shilpa brushed off Richard Gere's public kiss, saying too much importance was being given to the act and not to the issue of AIDS that was in focus at the event. Neha said, "Branson later asked me how I was doing and we laughed it off. Had it been someone else, I definitely wouldn't have taken it in the same spirit." Why? Just because these people are famous and come from the other side of the seven seas, they can get away with behaviour like that? We have never heard of Richard Gere or Richard Branson doing the same with Hollywood actresses!

Just because the Indian cultural sensibility is different such acts come under the media scanner. If the same thing had happened in the LA, it would not have grabbed eyeballs. As far as Richard Branson's act goes, he just pulled a fast one on Neha Dhupia and there was no lewd intent behind it. What happened with Richard Gere and Shilpa Shetty was circumstantial too. The actresses did not react adversely at the moment and add to the media circus. But who knows - may be both Richards got a firm dressing down from Neha and Shilpa, in true filmi Hindustani nari style.
