Imran especially imports engagement gift for fiancée

Bollywood actor Imran Khan, who exchanged rings with his long-time girlfriend Avantika Malik on Jan 16 night (pictured left), has gifted her a Volkswagen Beetle which he especially imported from Europe.

"Imran gifted her a red Beetle as her engagement present. He got the car from Europe and was at it for a month and a half," an official close to the Imran told IANS.

The engagement took place in a farmhouse in Karjat outside Mumbai.

"It is a very private affair and only family and close friends are invited," added the source.

Seen among the arriving family members was Aamir Khan, his dad Tahir Hussain, cousin Mansoor Khan, brother Faisal Khan, first wife Reena Dutta and son Junaid.

Karan Johar, Kunal Kohli, Purab Kohli and Sarika (a close friend of Imran’s mother Nuzhat) were among the Bollywood guests present on the occasion.

Imran wore a black sherwani with ivory silk churidar. The outfit was a part of 'Karan Johar with Varun Bahl' show at the Mumbai Couture Week last year. The actor had walked the ramp for that show. Avantika wore a fusion ensemble in cream and blue, also designed by Varun Bahl.

The 27-year-old has been dating Avantika, who is the daughter of TV18's honcho Vandana Malik, for over five years. They have been spotted together at various events since Imran's debut film "Jaane Tu... Ya Jaane Na" hit the screens in 2008.
