Real fir tree, designer presents - she’s all set for the big day
Christmas is a time of celebration in Kareena Kapoor’s home as her mother Babita is half Christian. The family attends the midnight mass on Christmas Eve and turkey is cooked.
Babita is particularly fond of the Christmas plum pudding sold at the department store Harrods in London and the family’s been shipping it from there for the last 20 years.
Along with the plum pudding, this year Kareena has got a fir tree, which she also bought at Harrods, shipped to Mumbai.
Kareena apparently fell in love with the tree while doing her Christmas shopping at Harrods during a recent trip to London.
Tired of having an artificial tree year after year, Kareena decided to go for a lush, natural one this year.
"I am very excited about the natural fir tree I chose from Harrods,” she has said. “I bought it, but as I couldn't carry it back myself I had it shipped back through Karan's (Johar) team that was in London for the promotion of ‘Kurbaan’."
Back in Mumbai, the tree is up in Kareena’s drawing room, surrounded by designer presents for the family. Incidentally, Saif Ali Khan’s children Sara and Ibrahim have helped in decorating the tree.
Last year, Kareena was accompanied to the church by sister Karisma and best friend Amrita Arora. However, as both these ladies are heavily pregnant at the moment, we guess Kareena will mainly have Saif for company during her Christmas celebrations.
By the way, was her Christmas Eve celebrations the reason why ‘3 Idiots’ premiere was held on a Wednesday (Dec 23), and not Thursday, the day premieres are normally hosted?
