Dutt - Terikee!

Amar Singh had said from day one that if Sanjay Dutt was not allowed to contest then Manyata ‘bhabi’ would contest from the Lucknow seat for the Samajwadi Party. So imagine everyone’s surprise when instead of Manyata, Nafisa Ali bagged the opportunity!

Soon after, Manyata left the country and went off to the Bahamas. The rumour mills went into overdrive, claiming that she had walked out in a huff because Sanjay had not allowed her to contest. But now everyone is giving out statements clarifying how all is hunky dory in the Dutt household, with Mrs Dutt leading the pack by saying, “It was Sanju’s idea that I go for my annual holiday to the Bahamas and London with my family and friends, as he would be busy shuttling from one place to another.” Yeah, right!

Speaking during a show on NDTV, Vir Sanghvi of Hindustan Times recalled an event in 2008, when Sanjay Dutt, sitting on the dais, was asked if he would join politics. Sanjay had looked reluctant and said ‘no’. However, Manyata, who was sitting in the audience, got up and said ‘yes, he will’.

With her background of B-grade flicks, her so-called marriage to Meraj Rehman, her Gangajal item number and all, we think it’s a mighty good idea that she is not contesting. Otherwise the opposition parties would have had a field day ripping her reputation to shreds.

“Right now, let me handle the politics around Sanju and then I can think of national politics”

He said

“Manyata’s decisions are limited to the kitchen only. She decides between biryani and chicken. Politics was wholly Amar Singhji’s and my decision”

She said

“It is wrong to say that Sanju told me not to contest. He wanted me to contest, but I turned it down because today I want to become a mother and start a family. Our biological clocks are ticking. Right now my priority is to have babies, not attend Parliament”
